Frequently Asked Questions

What is WiseTrail?
WiseTrail is a platform for creating and sharing interactive step-by-step trails. A trail is a guided journey through websites, videos, images, and notes that helps others learn or explore a topic in an organized way.
How do I create my first trail?
1. Sign up or log in to your account
2. Click "Create Trail" or go to your account page
3. Give your trail a name and description
4. Add steps (websites, videos, images, or notes)
5. Save your trail as a draft or submit it for publication
Do I need an account to view trails?
No! You can browse and view public trails without an account. However, you'll need to create an account to create your own trails and save them for later.
What types of content can I add to a trail?
You can add four types of steps to your trails:
Websites - Capture screenshots of web pages
Videos - Embed YouTube videos
Images - Upload photos or graphics
Notes - Add text explanations or instructions
How do I add a website to my trail?
When editing your trail, click "Add Step" and select "Website". Enter the URL (e.g., slickdeals.net), add a title and description, and click "Capture Screenshot". WiseTrail will automatically take a screenshot of the page for your trail.
Can I rearrange steps in my trail?
Yes! You can drag and drop steps to reorder them in the trail editor. This allows you to organize your trail's flow exactly how you want it.
What's the difference between saving and making a trail public?
Save - Stores your trail as a private draft that only you can see
Make Public - Submits your trail for admin review to be published publicly
How long does it take for my trail to be approved?
After you click "Make Public", your trail enters a pending approval status. An admin will review your trail and approve it, typically within 24-48 hours. You'll receive an email notification when your trail is approved.
Can I edit a trail after it's been published?
Yes! You can edit your trail at any time from your account page. Changes to published trails may require re-approval by an admin.
Where can I see all my trails?
Click on "My Trails" in the navigation menu or visit your account page. There you'll see all your trails with their current status (Draft, Pending Approval, or Approved).
How do I delete a trail?
Go to your account page, find the trail you want to delete, and click the "Delete" button. This action cannot be undone, so make sure you want to permanently remove the trail.
What do the different trail statuses mean?
Draft - Trail is saved but not submitted for publication
Pending Approval - Trail is awaiting admin review
Approved - Trail is live and publicly visible
